demo Ye Olde Renaissance Woman rises from the ashes of Ye Olde Font Shoppe. We are no longer publishing small press poetry books but if you're looking to do that email me and I'll recommend a new publisher. However, I moved to Tennessee and have decided to freelance the many skills I have accumulated over my years as a computer programmer, teacher, martial artist, crafter, and poet. After fifteen years in Connecticut, my itchy feet told me it was time to move south again. The background picture at the top of the page and the pictures in these sidebar items are views from my street. I think I'll stay for awhile. At least another 15 years.

If you want, simply email me, tell me about the person, or subject, about which you want a poem. Tell me a story, describe them, tell me what makes them special. I will need at least three paragraphs.

Most people have problems doing that, or they could probably write the poem themselves. So I have also included a list of questions below. You can answer them in the form and submit it. If you feel more comfortable writing paragraphs, use the questions as a reference and just talk to me in an email.

These questions assume the poem is being written for a person. If the object of the poem is not human, please answer the questions that most pertain to your object, or simply email me with what you want.

About the subject

Please give DETAILED answers. Try to include at least one concrete image in each answer. For Example, "What makes them laugh?." You can tell me that small children make them laugh. But it would be more helpful to tell me about one time "Small children make her laugh, like when Benny was three and told her that he saw pictures on the backs of his eyes at night." Just do your best. If I need more information, I will email you.

For whom is the poem intended?
What is this person's relationship to you?
For what occasion is the poem intended?
How did you meet this person?
Tell me about the first time you met this person. What did you see? What did you say?.
Describe this person physically: height, weight, hair and eye color, etc.
Include any features that make this person distinctive.
What are this person's most extraordinary traits and abilities?
Try to be specific. If you say they are "creative," tell me the things they create.
What makes them laugh?
Tell me what makes them laugh then tell me a story about when they laughed.
What makes them cry?
Tell me something(s) that make them cry then tell me a story about when they cried.
What are they up to today? Are they enjoying it? Describe what they are doing now? If they are enjoying it, or not, tell me why.
Tell me about a good time you had with this person.
Describe a good time you had together. For example, if it was a party, tell me what you two did together at the party. Be as detailed as possible.
Tell me about a bad time you had with this person.
Describe a bad time you had. For example, if it you two fought, what was the fight about? How did it get resolved? Be as detailed as possible.
Close your eyes and imagine what's in their pockets or purse.
Search deep into your friend's purse or pockets. They may have the usual things, but what might they have that no one else you know would carry there?
Close your eyes and imagine what's in their closet? Look hard. What's on those top shelves? What's in the back?
Look deep into the back of the closet What did they keep from childhood that is still stored there? What might they be hding there?
Is there anything I didn't ask? Tell me more...
Is there anything else you want to tell me? What didn't I ask that I should have?
