Unorganized Poetry Campout
TBD 2009
INDEX
What is it?
When, Where and How Much is it?
What will
we eat?
It sounds like fun but I don't camp.
Should I tell you if I'm coming?
What is it?
Come read your poetry and
perform acoustic music around the campfires. Even if you're not a camper,
come enjoy the company. This time we are hoping to rent a facility that has
indoor beds as well as campgrounds..
Why Unorganized?
It means we want to have fun, not make this into
work. It also means we don't have the time nor inclination to turn this
into an organized event. We think an open format with lots of leeway will
be more fun.
And although there is some structure, we want to leave
this open to what the people want to do. And if the things we plan don't
work, we want people to say so, and suggest things that will
work.
It's been great past years and continues to get
better!!!
This year we are adding a morning poetry critique
session for anyone who cares to rise and shine. So bring extra copies of a
poem if you want to participate.

When, Where and How Much is it?
When is it?
It usually runs from Friday evening through noonish on
Sunday. The exact dates will be set when I get some feedback as to
interested people's schedules.
Where is it?
We don't know yet. We have several possibilities
on our list. The top one we are considering are White Memorial
Foundation in Litchfield, CT and Opus 40 in Saugerties, NY. Depending
on interest in people in the area, we may have one in each place.
What will it cost me?
We aren't out to make money here, just have fun.
However, depending on the facility, we will figure a reasonable price.

What will
we eat?
Food and Drink
Please bring your own food and drink. We can provide
wood for campfires and you can cook what you want, but are not a funded
campout so cannot supply food and drink. If you'd like to bring extras to
share with those who don't have food, it would of course be appreciated.
(Marshmallows for the campfires are important.)

It sounds like fun but I don't camp.
So you want to come, but sleeping on the ground isn't
your thing. This is why we are aiming for a site that has indoor
facilities also. If we do not manage that, we will post a list of inns
and motels in the area so you can come by, share poetry around the campfire
then go back and sleep in comfort.

Should I tell you if I'm coming?
At this point I would be interested in hearing if
people would be willing to help with, or attend, a poetry campout.
